đ Ingredients You’ll Need:
2 cups Basmati rice
500g chicken (bone-in or boneless)
2 onions (sliced and fried)
1 tomato (chopped)
½ cup yogurt
2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
Salt to taste
1 tsp biryani masala or garam masala
4 green chilies
A few strands of saffron or food color (optional)
4 tbsp oil/ghee
Fresh coriander & mint leaves
đŠđŗ Cooking Instructions:
1. Cook the Rice:
Boil basmati rice until it’s 80% cooked. Drain and set aside.
2. Marinate the Chicken:
Mix chicken with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, chopped tomato, salt, and biryani masala. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
3. Prepare the Chicken:
In a pot, heat oil/ghee and fry onions until golden brown. Add marinated chicken and cook until oil separates and chicken is tender.
4. Layering (Dum Style):
In a heavy-bottom pot, layer half the rice, then the cooked chicken, then top with the rest of the rice. Add fried onions, green chilies, mint, and coriander. Drizzle saffron water or food color if using.
Cover with a tight lid and cook on low flame for 20 minutes.
